As a Drum Birthing Facilitator, you will have the unique opportunity to support individuals through the magical and transformative process of birthing their own shamanic drum. About this course
This comprehensive training program not only covers the practical aspects of making drums and how to teach it, but also delves into aspects of creating and holding sacred space, ceremony, and facilitating a safe and nurturing environment where participants can fully immerse themselves in the drum birthing process.
Master the art of birthing Shamanic Drums from start to finish
Develop your skills in creating and holding sacred space and ceremony, allowing you to create a safe and nurturing environment for your participants
Create and develop your own workshop for groups or one-to-one, tailored to your unique style and approach
Dive into the rich history and uses of Shamanic Drums, and gain a deeper understanding of the spiritual significance of this ancient practice
Develop the skills to guide a Shamanic Journey for a group, and learn how to facilitate sharing circles and other group activities
Immerse yourself in the drum birthing process by birthing 3 Shamanic Drums over the duration of the course, allowing you to gain valuable experience and expertise
By enrolling in this course, you will learn the skills necessary to support individuals in birthing their own drum while also gaining a deeper understanding of the spiritual and personal significance of the drum birthing experience. This course is an opportunity for personal growth, as well as a chance to support others in their own personal journey.
Dates and Location
This course is held at the Clophill Centre, Bedfordshire, a centre dedicated to the sharing of sacred traditions.
The course runs over three in-person training sessions, which take place on:
11th-12th November 2023
17th-18th February 2024
25th-26th May 2024
In addition to these training weekends, there will be:
Online sessions to support case studies and assignments will take place between workshop weekends.

Meet your Teacher
Jonathan Weekes (founder of Heron Drums) developed this training based on years of experience holding Shamanic Drum Birthing Workshops, in groups and one to one.
Over the past decade, Jonathan has shared this powerful experience with thousands of people around the UK, including people from all around the world who have traveled to join his workshops. He has built a reputation as a skilled and knowledgeable drum maker and facilitator who provides a safe and nurturing environment for participants to embark on their sacred drum journey.
You will have the opportunity to learn directly from Jonathan and gain valuable insight and guidance from his extensive experience in the field.

Prior Learning and Experience
As you’ll be training to support others through the process of drum birthing, we require that you have prior experience birthing your own drum. This will enable you to draw upon your personal experience during the training as you develop your own workshop.
Additionally, we highly encourage applicants to have familiarity and personal experience with shamanic journeying techniques.
Case Studies and Assessments
The assessment for this course will occur throughout the in-person weekend training, where you will be evaluated based on your practical work and group facilitation skills. In addition to these evaluations, we will also review your performance through case studies and reflective essays.
This comprehensive approach will allow us to assess your progress and understanding of the concepts and skills covered in the training, while also providing you with opportunities to reflect on your personal growth and development, to be better able to support others starting their drum journey.
